Connecting the cats.

As I observe Noah and Allie at the same time, I find myself getting closer to Allie as I wasn't close with her as I was with Noah. Why? Well, when I first met Allie and held her, she hissed at me which got me really scared and I dropped her. Since then, she would always avoid me, until she got comfortable with me and earned my trust. With Noah, he didn't really care at all. But I found more about Noah, recently, he couldn't sleep in my bedroom, so whenever I wake up and open my door, I see him sitting there. I'm not sure if he misses cuddling with me or just misses my bed. Resulting in this blog project, it had connected me and both the cats together.

People say that a dog is a man's best friend. Well to me, even though they're not dogs, obviously. They're like a sibling to me. Noah acts like a little brother who I have to carry and kick him out of my room but he always tends to come back in. Allie is like a little spoiled little sister who gets whatever she wants. As I mean in whatever she wants, it means as in getting petted or carried. I can see why people get so attached to their pets. It's because of the bond they make with each other that can never be forgotten, no matter what happens.

" If you hold a cat by the tail, you learn things that cannot be learned in any other way." -Mark Twain

I'm really into quotes, so I chose this quote for both Allie and Noah, but mainly to Noah. It reflects on the behavior that suddenly changes when you actually do grab them by the tail. Trust me, I've seen it happened before. Well, following up, My little cousin from Las Vegas had came over and was so intrigued in Noah that he grabbed him by the tail and Noah bit him. Of course, my little cousin got scared but left a tiny bite mark on his hand.

Although cats aren't the type of favorite animals to have. Ever since I met the cats and observed them, it began to change my point of view in cats. Before, I tend to like cats. I guess because of how they looked, and whenever I came close to one, I would always say, "I'm allergic to cats." But it's really amazing of how you don't like a certain thing, and in a matter of seconds, you now like that certain thing.

Even if there isn't much anything about cats. According to Erin McCarthy, it's something about catnip. Half of the cat population doesn't respond to the catnip ingredients. Well, in my connection, it's true. Allie responds to catnip while Noah doesn't. He doesn't show any responsive sign as Allie, becomes playful and not being scared as she use to be before the catnip. But Noah, he just eats the leftover catnip that Allie left and he just sits there, all calm, like always.

Even though dogs are the most favorited animals. Noah and Allie will always be my favorite, even if they're gone. They have made a huge connection with me, they can feel my emotions as they try to comfort me by just sitting with me. Both of them are just like a whole other person that I have met in the past that can cheer you up by the things they do. For example, Noah sliding into the dining table and Allie falling off the couch.

The coming to an end of this observation project, I will still be of course close with them as I am now. Nothing wouldn't stop me from seeing them, even if Allie is hiding under the bed, I will go and make her get out from under the bed. Noah, on the other hand, will just follow me around since he knows I act like him like just being lazy and just sleeping.

Mackarel Tabby; Noah & Allie

When I was younger, I always imagined having pets. Throughout my childhood, I've had dogs, fishes, and turtles, but they either were given away or died. But now I have two cats that I can actually keep until their time comes which I hope isn't anytime soon.

From the start of this observation, Noah and Allie are both tabby cats, but I always wondered why Allie had darker stripes on her fur coat while Noah had dark stripes along his tail. I had put in some research to find more information about this mysterious thing that I have never really thought about and have came to some information.

According to this article, Noah and Allie are both a tabby pattern which is called a " Mackerel tabby." A Mackerel tabby is a tabby fur pattern coat where they have darker stripes than the fur coat itself, and on the forehead, it makes a "M" marking. For Allie, I could see it clearly, but for Noah, I had to look really closely to find the "M" marking as he had dark stripes shown on his tail. -Orange Tabby Cats, Kelly Roper.

I have found that tabby isn't really a breed but it's mainly just a fur coat pattern. But as for my step mom to know, she just addresses the cats as tabby.
There are four types of tabby patterns; classic, mackerel, ticked and bi-color spotted tabby. The classic and mackerel are the most and quite common as for the other two are less common. Orange female cats are rare as they can be misidentified as males until the owner itself finds out that their tabby cat is a female. I guess I'm lucky since I have a somewhat rare orange female cat. - The Orange Tabby Cat: Fun Fact, Ellen Thorp.

Each tabby cat has it's own personalities depending on how the owner raises he/she. On my view of Noah and Allie. Noah is just a calm, eleven year cat who just likes to eat. As for Allie, who is a careful, and innocent cat who just likes to be petted.

Allie's haunt

As I see Allie. I see her as a little fragile glass. A cat that's so innocent and afraid. Afraid of darkness; people. A big part of her past that haunts her . As soon as someone comes near her, she runs and hides. All of this because of her past owners as she was a little kitty. You look in her eyes as you see her world in a different perspective. All people that she's around, scares her. No matter how nice you are to her, she has to earn your trust knowing you won't hurt her.

Her orange coat and small eyes, how she looks at things around her, is different. She watches herself to protect herself. If you walk behind her and make a little sound, she jumps and turns, looking at you to see if she knows you. If she does, she meows at you, and if she doesn't.. she runs.

Allie is a human-like person trapped in a cat's body, sad and scared.

Journeys

The adventures of Noah has been a fun journey for Noah I guess. Since we moved into our house during the summer. Noah has just been everywhere, meaning running up the stairs and back down or just chilling in everyone's room. I always wonder what Noah thinks of when no ones at home. I wonder if Noah gets heartbroken that nobody's there except his sister Allie.

As to his little adventures that I have been able to see. It's just simple things that a cat would do I guess. Basically sleep, eat, and bathroom businesses. But for Noah's age, he's just a bit active than most cats that I have seen. Noah's only 10 years old and he runs around and play like he's a little kitten, but most of the time, Noah's just sitting there. He's all over the place when he just sits there. On the floor, couch, stairs, bedrooms.

Noah's little adventure consisted himself of running around and sliding onto the tiled floor. Or, just chasing something that you think he's going crazy because there's nothing that he's chasing, unless it's Allie.

I came home and was scared about Noah. Why? because when I got home, my stepmom started off by saying, "Noah is old and.." I literally thought he died but it turned out that Noah couldn't sleep in the bedrooms anymore.
But referring to that, is it possible for a cat to miss certain things? Ever since Noah stopped sleeping in my room, he always sneaks into my room if my door is open, and tries to sleep in my room, I can say. I always find him sitting by my door, waiting for me.

As a meow goes by

As a meow goes by.. I see my cat Noah just sleeping there. Allie is upstairs as always. She tends to be upstairs but only comes downstairs if she's going to eat, but if there's people here then she just stays upstairs. Noah, he just eats and sleeps like any other cat. They're lazy, but the time they actually play is when they're fighting. So I'm just stuck with lazy cats that aren't no fun.

I came home the other day, I saw Noah running into the dining room as he slid on the floor and crashing into the dining table.. Well that's his favorite thing to do. He came chasing Allie into the living room as he pounced on her as Allie's tail hit the floor and her ears perked back. She meowed at Noah but kept playing as Noah play fought with her by biting. They looked at each other for 10 minutes and then at me, as they went on with their little cat lives.

Allie is a little baby, she always meows at my stepmom as she comes home. Allie's meows is a sign that she wants to be petted, but only because she's around us. She wants to have a belly rub.. It's weird because I never would think that a cat would want a belly rub. The last time I gave Noah a belly rub, he grabbed my hand and bit it, leaving a huge bite mark. The only mark I actually have that never went away was when Allie was sitting on my laps and jumped off as her back paw claws scratched my leg.

There are two different things between Noah and Allie. It's their meows. How are they different? They're different because when Noah meows, he just wants you to follow him to shake his food container.. because you know, he just loves to eat basically. Like who doesn't? As of Allie's meows, she just wants affection because before my stepmom adopted her. She was abused.(reason why she's afraid of people). So now, we just treat her like a little princess.

First

As for my AP English class, I will be doing an observation project based on my two cats, Noah and Allie. I will observe on what they will do everyday and try to observe when I come home from school which will be around 5pm. Why I will be observing these two cats is because I have an interest on what both of them do each day.

My first observation as I came home, I spot Noah chilling on the couch while Allie layed on the stairs. As Noah looked at me in the eye and gave me that nod look with a meow calling me. Allie walks to me and gives me headbutts as a sign for her kisses and rubs herself against me.

A little bit later, Noah runs into the dining room sliding into the table but keeps on running as if he was chasing something that I couldn't see. Allie just lays on the floor waiting for me to pet her belly, as she is one of those weird cats that enjoys belly rubs.

Throughout this week, I will be busy on my fall break as I go to California for a visit with my cousin. If I can't get an observation of my cats... I will be observing what is around me in California and my fall break.
